If you’re a Family and/or Divorce Law Solicitor and you use Twitter you might be interested in how your colleagues/competitors are using this social network.
Using data from Moz’s Followerwonk tracking service, I found 602 Twitter accounts which mention all the words “family law, solicitor” or “divorce, solicitor”) in their biographies. I’ve stripped out non-UK entries and accounts which mentioned those words but were not solicitors or firms of solicitors (a few may have slipped through the net). In the final table of data (you can download all the data below) I’ve included numbers for: followers, following, date account was created, total number of tweets, date of last tweet and Social Authority score. The Social Authority score is a measure created by analytics firms, Moz which shows the relative authority of a Twitter account based on number and frequency of retweets by other accounts. This is a more accurate measure of authority than just counting followers as we all know that followers can be bought and, even if genuine, does not show how engaged followers are with the accounts they follow.
Key Findings (Based on all 602 accounts)
~ Average number of followers = 320
~ Average number followed = 346
~ Average number of tweets = 536
~ Average Social Authority score = 6.5
~ 48% of accounts have less than 100 followers
~ 110 accounts have tweeted less than 10 times
~ 8% of accounts have more than 1,000 followers

Note: In the Last Tweeted column some Twitter accounts have 01/01/1970 – this is because they are protected accounts which can only be followed with the permission of the account owner. This creates the strange date.
